BreathTimer Privacy Policy

BreathTimer is free to download, with an optional one-time Full Access in-app purchase. There is no subscription.

Data Collection

BreathTimer does not collect or receive personal data on servers operated by the developer.

Session history and settings are stored locally on your device. A minimal summary containing your streak, total session count, total breathing time, and latest completion date is shared only between the BreathTimer app and its widget using Apple's App Group storage.

iCloud Sync

When iCloud is available on your device, BreathTimer automatically syncs your custom breathing patterns (name and phase durations) and up to your 300 most recent completed sessions (completion date and time, pattern name, session duration, and cycle count) between devices signed in to the same Apple Account, using Apple's iCloud key-value storage. This data is stored in your iCloud account by Apple; it is not sent to servers operated by the developer. This sync follows your device's iCloud settings and does not take place when you are not signed in to iCloud.

Apple Health

If you explicitly enable Apple Health integration, BreathTimer writes the start and end time of completed breathing sessions to Apple Health as mindful sessions. BreathTimer does not read your health data. You can deny or revoke this permission in Apple Health or Settings at any time.

Health data is stored and managed by Apple Health and may be synced by Apple according to your device and iCloud settings. It is never sent to the developer and is not used for advertising, marketing, or analytics.

Apple Watch

When you complete a session on Apple Watch, the session identifier, breathing pattern, start and end times, duration, and completed cycle count are transferred to the paired iPhone through Apple's WatchConnectivity service. The session is added to your history on iPhone, so it is also included in the iCloud sync described above and, if enabled, saved to Apple Health.

Deleting Your Data

Deleting BreathTimer removes the history and settings stored on your device. Custom breathing patterns and recent sessions that were synced to iCloud are not removed by deleting the app, and they are restored if you reinstall BreathTimer while signed in to the same Apple Account. With Full Access, you can delete a custom breathing pattern by swiping it in the Custom section of the pattern list, and the updated list is also saved to iCloud. BreathTimer does not currently offer an in-app option to delete session history, including the recent sessions synced to iCloud; contact support if you need help. Mindful sessions saved to Apple Health remain in Apple Health after the app is deleted and can be deleted in the Health app.

Analytics, Advertising, and Tracking

The free version uses Google AdMob to display banner ads on the home and history screens. According to Google's privacy manifests, the Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect device identifiers, coarse location, advertising data, product interactions, crash data, performance data, and other diagnostic data for advertising and analytics, and Google declares that device identifiers may be used for tracking (linking them with data from other companies' apps or websites for advertising). Google's User Messaging Platform, which shows the consent form, may collect coarse location, product interactions, and performance data to provide that form. Consent choices are requested where required through the User Messaging Platform. If the consent status cannot be updated or the form cannot be shown, ads are requested only when the SDK reports that ads may be requested based on consent choices stored earlier. Full Access removes ads, and ads are not shown during a breathing session. BreathTimer does not use Apple Health data for advertising, marketing, or analytics.
