RecallDeck Privacy Policy

RecallDeck is free to download, with an optional one-time Full Access in-app purchase. There is no subscription.

Data Collection

RecallDeck does not collect or receive personal data on servers operated by the developer. No account is required.

Your decks, cards (including images you add to cards), notes, and study history are stored on your device. For the Home Screen widget, the app shares a short summary with the widget on your device using Apple's App Group storage: the number of cards due, and the front text of the next card and its deck name. The medium widget shows that card front on your Home Screen. This summary is not sent to the developer.

iCloud Sync

RecallDeck syncs decks and study history between your devices signed in to the same iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit private database. This data is stored in your own iCloud account, is managed by Apple, and is not accessible to the developer. If iCloud is unavailable, data stays on your device.

On-Device AI

On supported devices, the note-to-card feature uses Apple's on-device language model. The notes you paste are processed on your device and are not sent to the developer or to any third-party service.

In-App Purchase

Full Access is a one-time purchase processed by Apple through the App Store. The developer does not receive your payment details.

Analytics, Advertising, and Tracking

RecallDeck contains no advertising, no analytics, and no third-party SDKs, and it does not track you.

Camera, Photos & Files

Camera: when you tap Scan while making cards, RecallDeck asks for camera access and opens Apple's document scanner so you can scan paper notes. The text on the scanned pages is read on your device with Apple's Vision framework and added to your note; the scanned images are not saved.

Photos: RecallDeck uses the system photo picker and receives only the photos you select; it does not ask for access to your whole photo library. Photos you select while making cards are used to read their text on your device and are not saved. A photo you add to a card is saved in that card as a resized image and syncs with your decks through iCloud.

Files: RecallDeck reads only the PDF and deck files (CSV, TSV, text, Anki .apkg, ZIP, XML) you choose to import. Text in PDFs is read on your device.

RecallDeck does not access your microphone, contacts, location, or health data.

Sharing Decks

When you share a deck, RecallDeck creates a CSV file with the front and back text of its cards (card images are not included) and hands it to the app or person you choose in the share sheet. The developer does not receive this file. After you share it, that copy is handled by the destination you chose.

Deleting Your Data

You can delete cards and decks inside the app; deleting a deck also deletes the cards in it. Deleting the app removes the data RecallDeck stores on your device. Data synced through iCloud can be removed in Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Manage Account Storage. Copies of decks you have shared are not removed by deleting a deck or the app; delete them where you sent or saved them.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here.
