Saunaset Privacy Policy
Saunaset is free to download, with an optional one-time Full Access in-app purchase. There is no subscription and no advertising.
Data Collection
Saunaset does not collect or receive personal data on servers operated by the developer. The app has no account system and contains no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.
Your sauna sessions (set durations, temperatures, condition ratings, facility notes) and settings are stored on your device. A small summary of recent session dates used by the widget is shared between the app and its widget extension through Apple's App Group storage on your device. The timer Live Activity receives its state directly from the app.
iCloud
When iCloud is available, your session records are synced between your own devices through your private iCloud (CloudKit) database. This data is stored in your Apple account, is managed by Apple, and is not accessible to the developer. If iCloud is unavailable, records are kept in the app's storage on the device and are not synced. Device backups you make (for example to iCloud or a computer) may include this app data, as Apple describes for backups.
Apple Health
If you allow access, Saunaset reads your heart rate and active energy from Apple Health to show heart rate for each phase of a set, to show the active energy for the whole session as a single figure on the session detail screen (you can turn this off in Settings), to show monthly average heart rate in the trend charts (calculated on your device), and, while a set timer is running and Saunaset is open, to request a local notification when your heart rate reaches or exceeds a limit you set (iOS may not display notifications while an app is in the foreground). If you allow it, Saunaset also saves finished sessions to Apple Health as workouts. Health data is stored and managed by Apple Health, is never sent to the developer, and is not used for advertising or marketing. Saunaset does not send Health data to any analytics service; the heart rate figures above are calculated on your device. You can change or revoke this permission in the Health app or Settings at any time.
Apple Watch
The Apple Watch app can record a session and read heart rate from Apple Health. When a session ends, the Watch app queues its data for transfer to the paired iPhone through Apple's WatchConnectivity service, intended to be added to your history. The Watch app also records its own workout in Apple Health.
On-Device AI Reflection
The reflection comments are generated on your device using Apple's on-device model where available, or from a fixed template otherwise. Your records are not sent to the developer or to any external AI service.
Notifications
Saunaset uses local notifications on your device for timer and heart rate alerts. No push notification server is used.
Purchases
The optional Full Access purchase is processed by Apple through StoreKit. The developer does not receive your payment information.
Advertising and Tracking
Saunaset does not show ads and does not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
Deleting Your Data
Deleting a session inside the app removes it from your device and, through iCloud sync, from your other devices. Deleting the app removes the data stored on that device. Images or text you shared from the app (for example a session summary or a badge) are copies held by the app or service you shared them to, and must be deleted there. Workouts saved to Apple Health can be deleted in the Health app. Data in your iCloud can be managed in Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Manage Account Storage.
Photos & Media
Saunaset does not access your photo library or camera.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here.
