SetScribe Privacy Policy

SetScribe is free to download, with an optional one-time Full Access in-app purchase. There is no subscription, no advertising, and no account.

Data Collection

SetScribe does not collect or receive personal data on servers operated by the developer, and it contains no analytics, advertising, or third-party SDKs. The app does not track you.

Your workouts, sets, routines, exercises, body measurements, workout notes, workout photos, and settings are stored on your device. A small summary of your upcoming workout is shared between the app and its widget using Apple's App Group storage.

iCloud Sync

If you are signed in to iCloud, your workouts, routines, exercises, body measurements, and workout photos are synced between your own devices through your private iCloud database (CloudKit). This data is stored in your iCloud account and is not accessible to the developer. If iCloud is not available, SetScribe does not sync your data. Data on your device may still be included in your device backups (for example iCloud Backup or a backup to a computer), according to your device settings.

Apple Health

If you allow it, SetScribe writes finished workouts and, if you enter them, body weight and body fat percentage to Apple Health. SetScribe does not read your health data. You can deny or revoke this permission in the Health app or Settings at any time. Health data is managed by Apple and is never sent to the developer.

Speech Recognition and Microphone

If you use voice entry, SetScribe uses Apple's Speech framework and the microphone to convert your speech to text for logging sets. On-device recognition is requested when your device supports it; otherwise Apple may process the audio according to Apple's policies. Audio is not stored by SetScribe or sent to the developer.

Apple Watch

The app exchanges today's menu, exercise names, rest time, weight unit, and sets logged on your Apple Watch with the paired iPhone through Apple's WatchConnectivity service. This data is used to show your menu and rest timer on the watch and to update your workout history.

Purchases

The Full Access purchase is processed by Apple through the App Store. The developer does not receive your payment information.

Export and Deletion

You can export your sets as a CSV file from Settings. The file is handed to the share sheet, and the app you choose there receives it; SetScribe does not send it to the developer. Opening an exercise's video link searches YouTube with the exercise name. In the app you can delete sets, routines, custom exercises (only those with no recorded sets), and body measurements, and remove a workout photo, and you can clear a workout's note. The app has no screen to delete a whole workout, so a workout's title and date remain unless you delete the app, which removes the data SetScribe stores on the device. Copies you saved elsewhere, such as exported CSV files, must be deleted where you saved them. Data synced to iCloud can be removed in iPhone Settings > your name > iCloud > Manage Account Storage. Workouts, weight, and body fat saved to Apple Health can be removed in the Health app; deleting a body measurement in SetScribe does not remove its Health entry.

Photos & Media

You can attach a photo to a workout. SetScribe uses the system photo picker, so it receives only the photo you choose, not your whole photo library. The chosen photo is compressed and stored with that workout on your device, and is synced through iCloud when iCloud sync is on. You can remove it at any time. SetScribe does not use the camera.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here.
