Cradlelog Privacy Policy
Cradlelog is free to download, with an optional one-time Full Access in-app purchase. There is no subscription, no account, no advertising and no analytics.
Data Collection
Cradlelog does not collect or receive personal data on servers operated by the developer. The app does not send your records to the developer. Records leave the device only through the Apple services described below (iCloud sync, family sharing through iCloud, Apple Watch) and when you choose to export, share or copy them.
The records you enter are stored on your device: feeds (start and end time, breast side, bottle amount), pumping (time, breast side, amount), diapers, sleep, notes, growth measurements (weight, length, head circumference), medicine and temperature records, solid food records (food, amount, first try, reaction, notes) and children's names. Your baby's birth date and sex (used for the growth charts), the questions you write for a checkup, the selected child and app settings are also stored on your device.
iCloud Sync
When you are signed in to iCloud, Cradlelog saves the records listed above (feeds, pumping, diapers, sleep, growth, medicine, solids and children's names) to your private iCloud database using Apple's CloudKit, so they sync between your devices signed in to the same Apple Account. This data is stored in your iCloud account by Apple; it is not sent to servers operated by the developer. When iCloud is not available (not signed in, or iCloud is turned off for the app), records are kept only on the device. The birth date, sex, checkup questions and app settings are kept on the device and are not synced.
Family Sharing (iCloud Share)
Sharing starts only when you tap Share with Family in Settings and invite people with Apple's iCloud sharing screen. Only people you invite can join; the share is not public. Once shared, feeding, pumping, diaper and sleep records (kind, start and end time, breast side, bottle or pumped amount, diaper type, note) and children's names are synced through Apple's CloudKit with your own share and with every family share you have accepted. Growth, medicine and solid food records, the birth date and sex, and checkup questions are not shared.
The app does not keep separate records per share: every feeding, pumping, diaper and sleep record and child's name on your device, including those received from a family share, is treated as one set. When you add, change or delete such a record, the change is sent to your own share and to every family share you have accepted. When you start your own share, all such records on your device, including those received from other family shares, are sent to it. If you take part in more than one family share, the people in each share can therefore see records that came from the other shares.
Shared records are stored in the iCloud account of the person who created the share. You can see participants, remove people or stop sharing from the same Share with Family row. If you are not signed in to iCloud or iCloud is restricted or unavailable, the row shows the reason and sharing cannot start. If the app cannot check the iCloud status, the row is shown without a reason and cannot be tapped.
Permissions
Cradlelog does not use the camera, microphone, photo library, location, contacts, motion sensors or Apple Health. The only permission it asks for is notifications.
- Notifications (Feed reminder in Settings). The permission is requested only when you turn on the feed reminder. The app then schedules one local notification at the next feed time estimated from your recent feeds, and replaces it each time you log. The notification is created on the device; nothing is sent to a server. If you deny the permission, the reminder switch turns off again and the rest of the app works as before.
- Live Activities (Lock Screen and Dynamic Island). While a feed or sleep is in progress, its start time, breast side and the previous feed's side are shown on the Lock Screen. This is displayed on the device only. You can turn Live Activities off for Cradlelog in iOS Settings; logging still works.
Widget, Apple Watch and Siri
- Widget. The app writes the time, kind, breast side or bottle amount of the most recent feed of any child, the next estimated feed time and whether Full Access is unlocked to an App Group storage on your device, which the Cradlelog widget reads. The app also keeps the selected child in the same storage; it is not shown on the widget. The widget does not send this data anywhere.
- Apple Watch. When you log on the Cradlelog Watch app, the action (feed, sleep, diaper or finish), breast side or diaper type and the time are sent to your paired iPhone through Apple's WatchConnectivity and saved as a record there, so it is also included in iCloud sync and family sharing.
- Siri and Shortcuts. You can log bottles, diapers, feeds and sleep with Siri or the Shortcuts app. Siri requests are handled by Apple under Apple's Siri settings; Cradlelog receives only the resulting action (for example, a bottle amount) and saves it as a record.
- Checkup summary text. On devices that support Apple Intelligence, the checkup summary can rewrite your daily averages as short sentences using Apple's on-device language model. The averages are processed on the device and are not sent to the developer.
Exports, Copying and Backups
Data leaves the app only when you choose to send it, or through Apple's own services:
- CSV export (Settings). Creates a spreadsheet file of the selected child's feeding, pumping, diaper and sleep records and opens the iOS share sheet. Where the file goes (Files, Mail, AirDrop or another app) is your choice.
- Checkup PDF (Checkup summary). Creates a one-page PDF with the summary numbers and your checkup questions and opens the iOS share sheet.
- Copying. You can select and copy the generated checkup summary text. Copied text goes to the iOS clipboard, which other apps can read when you paste.
- Device backups. Records and settings stored on the device may be included in your iCloud or computer backups, as managed by iOS.
In-App Purchase
Full Access is a one-time purchase processed by Apple through the App Store. Cradlelog does not receive your payment information. The app checks the purchase with Apple's StoreKit and stores only whether Full Access is unlocked on the device.
Deleting Your Data
- Swipe a record to the left in the list to delete it. Growth, medicine and solid food records are deleted the same way on their screens.
- Deleting a child in Settings > Children deletes that child and all of their records. The first child cannot be deleted. The copy of the most recent feed kept for the widget (see Widget above), the scheduled feed reminder and a Live Activity of that child's ongoing feed or sleep are not updated at that moment: they are recalculated from the remaining records the next time you launch the app or log or delete a record on the Home screen.
- The birth date and sex (Growth) and the checkup questions are kept once for the app on the device, not for each child, so deleting a child does not delete them. You can erase the checkup questions by clearing the text on the checkup summary screen, and replace the birth date and sex by saving new values on the Growth screen. The app has no button to clear the birth date and sex; they are removed when you delete the app.
- Deletions are also applied to your iCloud data and, when shared, to the family share, so the records disappear on your other devices and for the people you share with.
- Deleting the app removes the data stored on the device. Records saved to iCloud are not removed by deleting the app and are restored if you reinstall Cradlelog with the same Apple Account. To remove them, delete the records in the app before deleting it, or contact support.
- Files you exported (CSV, PDF) and device backups are not deleted by the app; remove them where you saved them.
Analytics, Advertising, and Tracking
Cradlelog does not show ads, does not include analytics or advertising SDKs and does not track you across apps or websites.
Children
Cradlelog is used by parents and caregivers to record their baby's care. The records stay on the device and in the iCloud accounts described above and are not used for advertising or profiling.
Medical Disclaimer
Cradlelog is a log, not a medical device. Summaries, estimated feed times and growth charts are for reference only. Ask your doctor for medical advice.
