Yes. TextRuler uses Unicode-aware counting, so Japanese, Chinese, Korean, and other multi-byte characters are each counted as one character. Emoji and combined characters are also handled correctly.

Yes. You can paste text from any app using the standard iOS paste functionality. TextRuler only reads text content from the clipboard when you explicitly paste — it never accesses the clipboard in the background.

By default, text you enter is processed in memory only and is not saved. When you close the app or clear the text area, it is gone. If you explicitly choose to save a text snippet, it is stored on your device only and never transmitted anywhere.
